Heavens to Mergatroyd and Gracious Alive! I simply don't believe it! I am STILL hearing from people who seem to think that statins are the answer to high cholesterol. 'Well, it's working, it brought my cholesterol down', was a comment by email only a week ago. Yes, it probably did BUT AT WHAT COST? Read my article on CHOLESTEROL AND STATINS and draw your own conclusions.

This is not a comment but a question related to borderline high cholesterol at the age of 70. Is the Hay diet sufficient in itself for taking care of cholesterol levels in the blood. My husband has borderline high cholesterol 5.6 and the GP is recommending statins. Before going down this route we would like to try the Hay diet, and have already started, together with dail fish oils. Nowhere in the books can I find that it helps to lower cholesterol. Could you comment on this please? So many confusing things have been written about what you can and can't eat - eg coconut oil?
